This course introduces students to the principles, concepts, and applications of financial accounting. The course gives students the necessary background to: (1) understand the concepts and measurements that underlie financial statements, (2) develop the skills needed to analyze financial statements effectively, and (3) gain an understanding of the choices enterprises make in reporting the results of their business activities. (4) You will understand how accounting provides essential support to routine operations, decision making, and effective business control.
Students will be exposed to the decisions firms make relating to their operating, capital investment, and financing policies. Emphasis is placed on understanding both the mechanical elements of financial accounting and the discretion managers have when reporting financial results.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
At the end of this Course, Students/participants will:
- to develop knowledge and understanding of the underlying principles and concepts relating to Financial Accounting and to develop technical proficiency in the use of double entry accounting.
- Prepare a complete set of non-group financial statements (including cash flow statements) for internal use.
- Calculate, analyse and use ratios in the interpretation of accounting information for decision making.
- .Provide accounting and finance basics for effective analysis of business data to make key management decisions
- Enable students to apply management accounting techniques in business environment.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
The role of lecture is to stimulate interest and guide learning. These may be supported by tutorials in which students will have the opportunity to raise, discuss and clarify issues raised in pervious lectures. During this course students will be involved in 20 hours independent and study group studies and 24 hours of contact supported by 12 hours of tutorials. Active student participation is encouraged to generate experiences upon which students will be able to solve practical examples on their own. The lecturer will remain available throughout the course period to provide support and guidance
